Mortality Schedules

The mortality schedules for 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1885 were based on schedule 6 as outlined in an act of Congress approved May 23, 1850 (9 Stat 436). The schedules relate to persons dying in the United States during the 12 month preceding the taking of the census. The mortality schedules for 1885 only are housed at the National Archives in Washington DC.
